"In this odyssey, I traverse the borders delineated by iron rails, asphalt, rivers, fallen leaves, and moisture, my gaze fixated upon the blurred, intermingling lines, endeavoring to seize the brink of their transformative thresholds." - Hsu Yi-Ting
Hsu Yi-Ting's artistic endeavors are renowned for their primary focus on performance art in Taiwan. Her creative process often begins with an exploration of the interplay between her body and its surroundings. She meticulously captures the nuances of light, temperature, wind, and the ever-shifting seasons. Whether honed through years of dedication to performance art or innate intuition, her acute sensitivity to subtle shifts and metamorphoses in her environment is striking. These astute observations are reflected in her abstract brushstrokes, documenting her stays in various urban landscapes, ranging from subtropical to temperate, and even to the snow-covered streets of Helsinki.
The exhibition "Journey Along" primarily encapsulates her reflections on revisiting Prague last year. Throughout this journey, she aims to document the subtle physical changes observed in objects and natural surroundings. Among these, the repetitive, overlapping brushstrokes and the collage-like fluid spaces present a mesmerizing form of spatial narrative, blurring the boundaries between two and three dimensions.
