About
HSU YI - TING
Hsu Yi-Ting, born in Taipei, Taiwan, an island nation. She obtained her MFA from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2020. Through her embodied presence, she explores the multi-dimensional relationship between space and the body within landscapes.
Utilizing interdisciplinary on-site performance and painting, she reveals the interactive dynamics between the center and the periphery and the composition of boundaries. She views her artistic practice as a process of reconstruction, combining everyday minutiae with shan shui construction. She repeatedly tests the mutability of subjects, the structure of relationships, destructible resilience, and the humor of the defamiliarization.
Since 2015, she has continuously developed the "Floating Body" series, based on liminal spaces, to intervene in public space. Since 2017, she has also developed sensory geography cartography—the "Bodyscape" series of paintings, writing the perceptual intersections between the body and the environment in a collage-like liquid space.
